Production Planner


The Production Planner plays a key role in the successful production and delivery of Field Roast products. You are accountable for creation of the production schedule which ensures that customer orders are fulfilled, and a balanced workload is maintained. You lead by example and inspire the Production Team to deliver top results.  You are passionate about safety and promote a culture where safety comes first.  You thrive in an environment that is fast paced and have a keen sense for continuous improvement. Your approach is collaborative and offers a forum where everyone feels comfortable to bring forward new ideas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create daily/weekly production schedules for all WIP and finished goods

  • Schedule around plant constraints to achieve operational efficiencies with minimal changeovers and a balanced workload across all production areas

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels at main warehouse and 3PLs to meet targeted fulfillment rates

  • Schedule and coordinate co-packer production

  • Create SAP process orders and stock transfers

  • Create and update planning tools including validating and updating throughput calculations and product yields

  • Maintain long term production plan based on sales forecast while accounting for capacity constraints

  • Review sales forecast, sales orders and inventory reports

  • Communicate with Sales and Customer Service to mitigate any out of stocks and aged inventory

  • Assist with new product launches and R&D tests to ensure product is scheduled and materials are available

  • Responsible for order fulfillment and schedule conformance by effectively scheduling production and analyzing root causes of conformance shortfalls for future prevention

  • Responsible for preparing daily/weekly reports that track and measure KPIs

  • Drive departmental continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with our Food Safety Programs and facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferably in a quantitative or business field

  • 2+ year of experience in production or supply chain planning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Experience using an MRP or ERP system (SAP experience preferred)

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)

  • Proficient in Supply Chain concepts (safety stock planning, MRP calculations, scheduling constraints and bottlenecks, etc.)

  • Detail oriented and highly analytical

  • Knowledge of food processing and distribution

  • Must be results-oriented and thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and impact others at various levels within the organization to achieve results
