Maintenance Manager

The Opportunity: 
The Maintenance Manager is a key leadership role whose responsibilities include the efficient operation of the facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role has overall accountability to have all lines running effectively and efficiently and oversees the following areas; Maintenance, Automation, Utilities & Building Services. Drive preventative and predictive maintenance to increase reliability and improve plant performance. 
 
A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will do: 
  • Lead teams through the growth in a high-performance environment               
  • Sustain strong and measurable efficiencies through leading maintenance systems and programs including predictive, preventative maintenance and trouble shooting                               
  • Establish strong relationships with work teams, including internal and external stakeholders and works with a collaborative leadership style                                              
  • Works closely with site leadership team ensuring uninterrupted manufacturing operations in a reliable, cost effective manner
  • Assists in analyzing manufacturing facility requirements to anticipate future assets, equipment or utility needs and planning for future requirements
  • Leads the development, implementation and management of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI) and other reliability techniques, processes, and standards    
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Manufacturing Equipment/ Systems, Facility, Plant Utilities, and Central Utility Plant infrastructure, facilities and equipment used in the production/support of manufacturing, as well as procurement, receipt and storage of replacement equipment, spare parts, materials, supplies and capital equipment                            
  • Directs the development, implementation and management of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI) and other reliability techniques, processes, and standards               
  • Recommends improvement strategies for maintenance, operations, engineering and purchasing to extend lifecycle and equipment usage, plus support cost reduction effort
  • Defines, harmonizes, and implements Engineering and Maintenance Management processes, including the documentation and change control system to meet customer, regulatory, manufacturing, and purchasing requirements while taking all business interfaces into consideration-works with all affected groups in the organization   
  • Leads the capital cost reduction by finding alternate and low investment engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Creates a positive work environment for maximizing the business impact of reliability engineering and mechanical integrity programs; manages for lean, productive and sustainable processes                                           
  • Responsible for all engineering and maintenance activities within area of responsibility.
  • Maintains effective employee relations, safety and GMP compliance
  • Interfaces with Facilities Management, Central Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other staff support groups and integrates engineering and maintenance services for areas served                                    
  • Applies “data mining” techniques for analysis of engineering test data, historical data, and field data to predict product reliability while optimizing equipment up-time metrics (Overall Equipment Efficiency-OEE & Total Equipment Efficiency-TEE and equipment lifecycle costs)                             
  • Responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives within the Reliability function and coaching plant personnel through the identification and improvement of plant performance issues 
  • Model and drive a strong safety culture (H&S and Food Safety).
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of the Occupational Health & Safety programs and work towards achieving an accident free facility.
  • Develop employees through coaching, training, providing clear expectation and consistent support and feedback for all employees.
  • Foster and maintain a positive employee relations environment by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution.
  • Develop a cohesive, competent Supervisory group and plans for development and succession planning.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by leadership team.
  • Collaborate directly with HR Department to ensure employee issues or concerns are addressed and resolved in accordance with good business practices and company policy.
  • Carries out other supervisory activities as requested.

What you will bring: 
  • Engineering Degree or combination of 10-15 years of industry related experience or in process engineering equivalent roles; background in a progressive manufacturing company
  • Food manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Proven experience with the latest technology including but not limited to; Total Productive Maintenance, Automation, scorecards, control plans, visual management, and other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, Value Stream Mapping and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis
  • Must be self-managed and able to set priorities among conflicting priorities
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communications skills                                            
  • Strong business, analytical, information system and computer skills
  • SAP plant maintenance experience 
  • Experience with engineering processes, engineering software, reliability testing and prediction is essential
  • Mechanical design skill and array testing are desired
  • Data analysis, reporting and communication skills to all levels (including management reporting) are required
  • Proven record for tracking and predicting reliability failures and implementing improvement strategies based off data before equipment failure
